State of the passage on 17 November 2017
Step 1 - Mural Design Class (held on Saturday 2nd June 2018)
On Saturday morning, 2nd June we held our first Mural Design Workshop at Eldridge Primary School in Eldorado Park. On Wednesday, 30th May, we handed out 400 flyers at the school in as many classrooms as we could reach and as many kids as we could engage. On the day we had 189 children attend and participate in the workshop and in total we had 555 drawing submitted. Together we drank 80 litres of Oros Juice, ate 200 bananas and ate 180 sandwiches. Please see below some of the moments we captured on the day. Our next step is raising support in the form of equipment and material support for our execution day on Saturday 23rd June 2018. Special thank you to Goliath & Goliath (Kate Goliath, David Goliath and Donovan Goliath), Venetia Jacobs, Lee, Brynmor Coolman, Kaylene (EnvironMentorz NPC), Zenaida Martin, Marvin Adams, Surge, Baboo, Ann Pitt and Charcoal Ink who assisted with the mural design workshop.

The first stage of our Golden Passages project in Eldorado Park. The first project is the Tennis Court Project in extension 2. We invited Eldridge Primary School learner to assist us with the design of the passage.
Step 2 - Execution Day 1 (Saturday 23rd June 2018)
On Saturday 23rd June, saw a team of 24 individuals start the cleaning up process of the Tennis Court #goldenpassges project. Thank you to EnvironMentorz, Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), Councillor Fazel Jaffer, Joanna Notman and Ann Pitt who loaned us their gardening tools on the day for us to start the process. This would not have been possible without their support, as the tool that made the difference as we dug up roughly 20 years of rubble, waste and litter. At 11am we reach a point where we had to stop as we needed heavy duty equipment to loosen the last piece of rubble.
Another thank you too Ann Pitt, Aunty Joki, Aunty Julie Stevens and Chanel Stevens who provided lunch for the entire team in the form of sandwiches, coffee and water. A very fulfilling thank you.
STEP 3 - Assistance from Pikitup (Friday 6th July 2018)

STEP 5 - Further assistance from Pikitup (Friday 27th July 2018)
On 26 July, saw Pikitup and our partners, Environmentorz installing bollards at the two entrances to passage way. This will allow the passage be cleaner by preventing illegal dumping and making it safer.
Pikitup also removed the rubble from our last clean up day.

Step 6 - Execution Day 4 (3rd September 2018)

The next step in the process is gathering support in the form of raising R10 000 to fund the resources for the final 4 steps of the Tennis Court Golden Passages Project. These steps are No.1 removing the last piece of rubble, No .2 install the paving, No3. painting the passage floor, No. 4 creating the mosaic mural and lastly installing the lighting.
Step 7 - Execution Day 5 (Saturday 11th September 2018)
On Saturday 11th September, thanks to cash donation we were able to purchase 3 square meters of river stand, plaster mix and two bags of concrete to start to plaster the wall.
We are continuing to gathering support in the form of raising R10 000 to fund the resources for the final 4 steps of the Tennis Court Golden Passages Project. These steps are No.1 install the paving, No2. painting the passage floor, No. 3 creating the mosaic mural and lastly installing the lighting.
Step 8 - Further Clean up Day 6 (Saturday 13th October 2018)
Step 9 - Plastering the Wall - Day 7 (Saturday 24th November 2018)
On Saturday 24th November, thanks to cash donation we were able to purchase 3 square meters of river stand, plaster mix and two bags of concrete to start to plaster the wall.

Step 10 - Pastering the walk Day 8 (Saturday 11th May 2018)
On Saturday 11th May, thanks to an investment from Charcoal Ink we were able to hire a local brick layer, Ephram to complete the plaster of the Tennis Court Golden Passage. We purchased 3 square meters of river stand, plaster mix and two bags of concrete to start to plaster the wall.
Step 11 - Paving the passage - Day 9 (Wednesday 28th August 2019)

GOLDEN PASSAGES is inspired by the true mythological meaning of the city of Eldorado “city of gold”. Gold is synonymous with South Africa on many levels and conveys a high sense of value, aspiration and excellence.
These are also the qualities that our initiative seeks to instil and rekindle amongst the community members. And in the eyes of those observing and interacting with present-day, Eldorado Park.
